In 1972, after many years training with various teachers and participating in several “matches” in surrounding countries, he met Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi, Headmaster of the Bujinkan Dojo. After decades of training in the Bujinkan, he rose to become one of the senior students of Hatsumi, Sensei. He then formed his research society/dojo and continues to teach and train in both Okinawan Karate and Nihonden Bujutsu.
Dr. Koryu Muramatsu is the founder and director of the Kobujutsu Kenkyu-kai Myofu-An Dojo, or Ancient Martial Arts Research Society Wondrous Wind Temple. Born in Fukushima-ken, Japan, in year 26 of the Showa Era, he was raised in a traditional country setting and was surrounded by martial arts from a very young age. He learned Naginata from his mother at the tender age of three, Kyudo from his father, and continued his training in Kendo and Bujutsu throughout his teenage years under the stern hand of his uncle.
Dr. Muramatsu also practices Chinese Medicine at his clinic, Myofu-An Seitai-in, where he utilizes Seikottsu bone-setting, Seitai manual therapy, and Reflexology.
Charles trained with Muramatsu, Shihan from the 1995 until he left the Bujinkan Dojo and started the Kobujutsu Kenkyu-kai Myofu-An and the Myokaze Dojo Dojo of Noda City, Japan.
