Kokoro no Kai in New York City
The Kokoro no Kai is an association of like-minded individuals coming together to train and talk about Self-Defense and Self-Protection concepts and strategies in traditional martial arts. It is an event to learn how to apply your traditional training to modern self-defense and self-protection.
I am proud to announce the starting lineup of the instructors of the ‘Bujinkan Second ‘Kokoro no kai’ event which: will be held in New York City from August 28th to 30th of 2021! The event will cost $25 per day or $60 for an amazing weekend of very talented instructors from across the U.S and the World. We’re going to bring that hidden raw talent and different insight into Soke’s art.
Many of our instructors have used this art in real situations.
The website will be updated with nearby hotels and costs, restaurants, and things to do and visit while in New York City! DO NOT MISS THIS EVENT!!!
I plan on building new connections as well as reuniting with old friends. I look forward to seeing you all and having a few drinks after training!

Takagi Yōshin-ryū Jūtai Jutsu 高木揚心流柔体術
Most famous in the Bujinkan as a “Bodyguard School” with fast and effective jujutsu techniques, and daisho sabaki (jujutsu while wearing both swords in the belt). Other techniques are based around bojutsu. It has been mixed with sumo techniques, Takenouchi Ryu jujutsu, and others. Takagi Yoshin Ryu has been handed down together with Kukishinden Ryu for generations. The Takagi Yoshin Ryu uses many techniques that appear similar to judo and aikido but goes further in that when the techniques are applied it’s made difficult for the opponent to escape by rolling or break falling. These are very close quarter techniques with the opponent held close – a result of the techniques being developed in buildings. Students are taught to use speed, look the opponent in the eyes and use their impulse and weight. Also translated as “Heart of the Willow Tree School”.Kosen judo (高專柔道 Kōsen jūdō) is a variation of the Kodokan Judo Institute 公益財団法人講道館 competitive ruleset that was developed and flourished at the kōtō senmon gakkō (高等専門学校) (kōsen (高專)) technical colleges in Japan in the first half of the twentieth century. Kosen judo’s rules allow for greater emphasis of ne-waza (寝技, ground techniques) than typically takes place in competitive judo and it is sometimes regarded as a distinct style of judo.
Today, the term “Kosen judo” is frequently used to refer to the competition ruleset associated with it that allows for extended ne-waza. Such competition rules are still used in the Nanatei Jūdō / Shichitei Jūdō (七帝柔道 Seven Imperials Judo) competitions held annually between the seven former Imperial universities. Similarly, there has been a resurgence in interest in Kosen judo in recent years due to its similarities with Brazilian jiu Jitsu.
